PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Lead Product Designer, Allen Institute for AI (AI2)

June 2015 – present

Design lead and team manager across a portfolio of AI conservation platforms and consumer-facing products. Work spans the full design spectrum – user research, information architecture, wireframing, high-fidelity Figma design, prototyping, design systems, and communications design – in close collaboration with engineering, product, and research teams.

  • Drove product design for OlmoEarth from 0→1: a dual-audience Earth intelligence platform serving both ML researchers and non-technical scientists. Conducted user research, developed personas and design principles, and worked across the full fidelity spectrum – from rough sketches and wireframes to high-fidelity Figma designs – iterating on complex workflows. Platform coverage in FastCompany, Fortune, and GeekWire.
  • Skylight designer since the platform's earliest days; led the 2025 UI overhaul for public launch, resolving years of accumulated design debt across layout, navigation, and components.
  • Designed new features for Ai2’s Playground, including UI for thinking mode, function calling, and video controls for Molmo2.
  • Contributing designer on Strata, AI2's design system; established component architecture and prioritization strategy.
  • Manage and mentor a team of designers; conduct regular work reviews, career conversations, and goal-setting.
  • Integrate AI tools into daily design practice: Claude for ideation, research synthesis, microcopy, and vibe-coding; Figma Make for prototyping and design exploration; Gemini for writing and ideation.

Senior Contract / Freelance Designer

  • Drove the evolution of the Democrats brand and a complete Democrats.org redesign; produced a brand guide adopted party-wide.
